With Covid 19 restricting our movements to inside the house initially, to slowly easing us out of the house in the last two years or more; and then to again locking us up and again releasing us, all in multiple phases over a couple of months, it has been a strange year.
But if there’s been one thing that has been really constant in our lives, it’s our good or bad or whatever you like to call it, addiction to our phones, the internet and the influencing power of social media.
Case in point could be the much flashed all over social media, cafe cum restaurant, the Roastery Coffee House in Sector 144, of Noida.
Starved of new places where one could keep some amount of social distancing and also our desire to fling away our masks, while we ate good food in peace, brought me here on a cold, wintry evening, when I drove miles to reach this latest Noida hotspot.
Quick check list.
Dont go here if you are looking for something special. While it’s a nice enough place, with a good menu and good pricing too, this place, located almost in the middle of nowhere, can have you retracing your steps many times, despite google maps, which can lead you astray. In simple words, it’s easy to get lost while looking for this place. And it looks okay, nothing over the top!
It is spacious and located over a large area, with an indoor restaurant and outside seating too. The latter makes more sense if you want to avoid mingling too much, for fear of the dreaded virus.

Service, I fear, is rather slow and one has to remind them many times, about the orders placed.
And yet, food tastes good so it kind of makes up for that. Presentation of the food is also interesting and as evening sets in, the place looks nice, with the lamps in the courtyard open area.
What I found? Good strong coffee from various estates of the country, innovative cold brews, a delicious Chocolate Fondue with strawberries and marshmallows among the desserts, and a varied American menu, good for both kids and adults.
But like I said, it’s the usual place and kind of the poor man’s version of Olive in Mehrauli, when it comes to ambience. Don’t be swayed by the amazing pictures. Anything can look instaworthy these days!
